MANUFACTURING PROCESS
![]()
1) All Samco®Sport hoses are manufactured by hand, wrapped on steel or aluminium mandrels. The mandrels conform to the desired inside shape of the hose. Mandrels are expensive, therefore Samco®Sport cannot make one-off hoses economically.
![]()
2) Composite rubber/fabric material is wrapped around the mandrel. The pre-determined number of layers (plies) and thickness are dependent upon the hoses design criteria.
![]()
3) Samco®Sport hoses are finished in an attractive ’shiny look’ using a specially formulated wrapping tape.
![]()
4) After being fully wrapped the hoses are then treated to a high temperature vulcanising process. This results in a fully composite structure with all the separate plies melding together.

5) The vulcanised hoses are then removed from the mandrels and treated to a final curing process.
6) Finally the hoses are sent to the QC department for final finishing quality control.
TECHNICAL TIPS
CUTTING
A new snap-off blade must be used when cutting silicone hose. A jubilee clip should be tightened around the hose, and the edge of the clip used as a guide for the knife blade. The blade should be used to slice through with the hose resting firmly on a flat surface.
FITTING
Good quality hose clamps must be used with silicone hoses, particularly clamps with rolled or bevelled edges and a smooth liner. Clamps which have a drive mechanism perforating the inside of the clip must never be used.
CLEANING
Silicone hoses are best cleaned with hot soapy water.
