MORE THAN JUST A NUMBER!

Similar to how Aston Martin is intrinsically connected to James Bond, it is the unmistakable racing lines of the Caterham Seven that evoke clear memories of the cult 60s secret agent series, The Prisoner.

Currently undergoing a remake for broadcast on Sky One in the United Kingdom, the new series claims to retain the themes of paranoia, conspiracy and identity crisis that prompted the opening battle cry “I am not a number, I am a free man.”

The original series starred Patrick McGoohan as ‘number six’, the show follows his various thwarted escape attempts from ‘the village’ by ‘number two’ and ‘Rover’ a huge inflatable balloon guard.

As for choosing a car for the original series, Patrick McGoohan, said: “… we needed a car for our hero. Something out of the ordinary. A vehicle to fit his personality … I test-drove it. This was it. A symbol of all The Prisoner was to represent: standing out from the crowd, quickness and agility, independence, individuality and a touch of the rebel …”

With an audience of 11 million viewers, the iconic green and yellow Seven with its red interior became symbolic of the show. To this day, its cult status continues to fuel enthusiasm and interest in the legendary sports car. It even prompted Caterham Cars to produce limited edition models, individually signed by the star.

Four decades later, the management at Caterham Cars is anticipating a call. As one insider acknowledged, we hope to say, “Be seeing you!” again.
