DYNAMIC DRIVER TRAINING WITH ROB GRAVETT

Robb Gravett’s Ultimate Car Control driver training programme was officially launched today. The Gravett name needs little introduction to motoring journalists. Some of you, however, may not be aware that for the past few years the ex-British Touring Car Champion has been applying his intimate understanding of car control to more pressing issues of road safety and accident prevention.
Ultimate Car Control is about as far removed from most people’s perception of driver training as could be. This is not about mirror, signal, manouver – Ultimate Car Control’s unique programme centres on the fundamental principles of mass transfer, weight distribution and the effect your actions have on the car’s behaviour. This unique message is graphically delivered in a practical and exciting hands-on experience well away from the public highway.
In harmony with the dynamic elements, Ultimate Car Control also investigates and explains the principles of ESC and ABS – road hazard perception and speed awareness. All this takes place within one day for up to sixty candidates at a time. The courses are held at venues across the length and breadth of the UK.
The results, so far, have been outstanding. Attracting the backing and support of Mercedes Benz UK, Ultimate Car Control has also succeeded in attracting many corporate clients keen to display best practice across all aspects of their business, including company car usage. The Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) in Berkshire is one such example – they will be using training delivered by Ultimate Car Control to ensure that members of staff who drive on business, do so as safely as possible.
Ultimate Car Control’s approach to driver training may be unique in its dynamic execution but perhaps more importantly it’s also unique in another dimension – this is the first one-day, multi-pupil course of its kind to be fully legally compliant under current Health and Safety and Duty of Care legislation.
