HGM 6
Ben Corley | June 24, 2007
Developed by two aerospace design engineers in about 5 years, the HGM 6 is a fairly accurate replica of the Lotus Mark 6.
The HGM 6 chassis is constructed from 1-7/8, 1 and 3/4″ round and square section ERW tube, set up in a laser aligned jig to ensure accuracy. MIG welding is used throughout although fusion welding is an extra cost option.
Light gray is then painted over the completed chassis. Rust protection is an option for the inner tubes and the Ford Consul engine is the powertrain of choice for the HGM 6. Other engine choices include the BLMC 1275cc A-Series.
The body consists of GRP (Glassfibre Reinforced Plastic) rear and front wings, nosecone and scuttle. However, a full alloy body is possible, at extra cost of course.
The HGM 6 will be available in Kit form with the following:
- MIG-welded Chassis
- Wire wheels
- Open rear wheel arches in GRP (Closed arches optional)
- GRP Nosecone
- GRP front wings
- GRP scuttle panel
