CAR PARTS INTERNET SHOPPING SOARS AS SHOPS CLOSE
Ben Corley | June 23, 2007
It has been reported recently that more do-it-yourself motorists are using the internet to buy vehicle spares as traditional car parts shops and motor factors close.
It is estimated that about half of all car parts suppliers have closed in the last 10 years. More motorists are ordering parts on the internet, especially for major purchases where good savings can be made and availability of spare parts is better where sellers supply to a world market rather than a local community.
Internet mail order specialist, Car Parts Direct has just completed a major upgrade to their website to make shopping for car parts online even easier. The company claims their online car parts sales are already increasing at a rate of 30% a year. Products such as brake discs and pads, shock absorbers and other MOT failure spares can be bought online in seconds.
Mark Cornwall of Car Parts Direct says, “We’ve spent over £80,000 in the last few months improving our website to provide better service, prices and provide faster deliveries for our customers. Motorists can order 200,000 spare parts from the new site, they can enquire online and expect a swift response. Customers can order by phone too – it’s their choice.”
Car Parts Direct employs specialist staff to look after different types of vehicles. As well as supplying parts for modern vehicles, the company has a specialist for classic cars, kit cars and Japanese imports. If the answer cannot be found on the website, an online enquiry or a phone call is directed straight to an experienced vehicle parts specialist.
The company has a classic spares specialist, Martin Mosley, a veteran with over 20 years experience in supplying parts for older vehicles. There’s a picture of a Seven on the website so it might be worth looking them up! I myself buy all my Caterham parts off the internet.
Visitors to the Car Parts Direct website can use a free £5 voucher against any online purchase up until the end of July. Just put the word ‘Free£5/07/07’ in the ‘Gift Voucher’ box when you reach the online checkout. An extra £5 will be deducted from your first purchase. Visit www.carparts-direct.co.uk
