CATERHAM SEVEN REBUILD

Ben Corley | June 17, 2007

Stripped to the bone! These are fascinating video clips from “CATERHAMNUT” on YouTube of a 1995 Caterham Seven stripped to bare frame for a rebuild. Check out the bronze brazed (Capillary Brazing) frame, with Watts Linkage framework.

“It was taken apart so that the powdercoating on the chassis could be totally replaced, to give the car another 10 years of hard use. The car was a ‘95 which was a known bad year for powdercoated Caterhams - and as we use the car all year round, there was some corrosion creeping in on the alloy skins as well. Car is all back together again, with a few upgrades, and looking lovely - video of that isn’t so dramatic though!” - CATERHAMNUT

About Me

When I got the chance to build it, it was the most basic, lightest, high-performance little car we could come up with ... A student's car, if you will - a four-wheeled motorbike." - Colin Chapman All copyrights acknowledged & trademarks property of respective owners.
